      <title>Abstract</title>
<p>Natural phenomenon as well as human activities are the driving forces by which LULC is changed and it is directly affected on environment. Present study deals with Spatio-temporal variation of LULC to understand the impact on Land surface temperature and vegetation health status of the study region. The study was carried out by using the GIS and remote sensing technique. To understand the Spatio-temporal variation of LULC as well as the LST and NDVI, 30-year time span was considered and it has been observed that LULC has changed during this time span. Mangrove area, built-up area and aquaculture extensively increased while fallow land, agricultural land and rocky bare surface have decreased in the pre monsoon season. In the post monsoon season, hilly region of the study area have experienced widely increase of evergreen vegetation though fallow land, rocky bare surface have been decreased. Human interference is one of the reasons for the land transformation because of fast growing of heavy industries as well as the tourism industries, as the study region is situated in the vicinity of Mumbai. LULC changes is the causes of the alteration of vegetation health and land surface temperature and it is showing negatively correlated.</p>
