Abstract
Digital transformation has reshaped both marketing communication and the delivery of financial services. Digital financial services, including mobile banking, UPI, digital wallets, internet banking and fintech-enabled services, have expanded the ways in which consumers access financial products. At the same time, digital marketing has become an important channel through which financial institutions and fintech organisations create awareness, communicate service benefits and engage consumers. However, exposure to digital promotion does not automatically lead to adoption. Consumers also evaluate usefulness, ease of use, trust, security, privacy, perceived risk and the credibility of information received through digital channels. This conceptual study integrates insights from technology-acceptance research and digital-finance adoption literature to examine how digital marketing can contribute to consumer adoption of digital financial services in India. The paper synthesises recurring constructs from prior research and develops an integrated framework linking digital marketing communication, content quality, digital engagement, personalised communication and credibility with awareness, perceived usefulness, trust and adoption intention. Perceived risk and privacy concerns are positioned as potential barriers. The paper contributes a marketing-oriented perspective to digital-finance adoption research and provides practical implications for banks, fintech firms and other financial-service providers. The proposed framework can serve as a foundation for future empirical studies using primary survey data and structural equation modelling.
