Abstract
Quality management has evolved from a narrow technical discipline focused on inspection and defect detection into a comprehensive strategic framework that underpins organisational competitiveness, operational resilience, and sustainable value creation. This paper presents an integrated conceptual framework for managing quality in contemporary organisations, synthesising foundational quality management principles with emerging paradigms, including Quality 4.0, Industry 4.0 integration, and sustainability-oriented quality governance. The analysis examines four critical dimensions: (1) the theoretical foundations and strategic importance of quality management systems (QMS); (2) quality planning and control methodologies encompassing risk assessment, statistical process control, and supplier quality management; (3) quality assurance and continuous improvement mechanisms including process improvement methodologies, customer feedback systems, and human capital development; and (4) quality performance measurement, benchmarking, and the cultivation of a continuous quality improvement culture. Drawing on seminal works in quality management theory, contemporary empirical research, and emerging scholarship on digital transformation in quality practices, the paper argues that organisations achieving superior quality outcomes consistently integrate systematic process discipline with adaptive learning capabilities, data-driven decision-making, and stakeholder-centric value creation.
