Abstract

Abstract: This study examines the work pressure experienced by CA Articled Assistants in the Dakshina Kannada District, focusing on key contributing factors and exploring potential solutions, including the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the accounting profession. The demographic analysis reveals that most articled assistants fall within the 20–25-year age group, with a notable female majority among the respondents. The study identifies tight deadlines, long working hours, lack of proper planning, and multitasking as the primary causes of work pressure. Statistical tests, including the Chi-Square Test, confirm that these factors are significantly associated with increased stress levels. The research also finds that work pressure substantially affects the personal lives and mental well-being of articled assistants, supporting the hypotheses that workload has a significant negative impact on both personal and mental health. Interestingly, the study concludes that there is no significant difference in workload between peak and non-peak seasons, indicating that work pressure persists throughout the year. While respondents recognize the potential of AI to reduce manual tasks and improve efficiency, the current impact of AI on reducing work pressure is minimal due to limited adoption in their present work environment. Nevertheless, articled assistants express optimism about the future positive impact of AI in enhancing work life. The study presents several practical suggestions to mitigate work pressure, including balanced workload distribution, time management training, structured mentorship, realistic deadlines, AI integration, mental health support, and initiatives to promote work-life balance. Overall, the study emphasizes the need for both technological advancements and supportive organizational practices to create a healthier and more productive work environment for articled assistants.
